In a perfect world, everyone would have great headphones—the would fit perfectly, have great sound, and, most importantly, they would all be the same.
But that's not reality for me and many other podcasters. Most of the time, we each have our own headphones that fit our ears best (or else our budgets). You can use a simple headphone splitter, like I shared yesterday, but I recommend something like the Behringer HA400.
A headphone amplifier like this is not subject to signal-weakening when you add more headphones. But more importantly, this gives each output channel its own volume controls.
So now everyone can wear their favorite pair of headphones and eat their cake control their volume, too!
I also have one of these and love it. In addition to personal preferences of volume, we each have different types and quality of headphones, so this helps make everyone happy. I do wish there was an on/off switch on these. Anyone considering buying one may want to add to their Shopping Cart a 1/4″ to 1/4″ patch cable (to go to sound source) and 4 mini-stereo to 1/4″ headphone adapters.
Yes! The important accessories you don’t realize you need until you try to connect them.
